Potatoes - Stemster
Desiree x Maris Piper; a Jack Dunnett variety. Similar appearance to Desiree, cooked about the same but slightly more waxy; do not disintegrate on boiling.
They have eelworm resistance.
Popular in France; not so widespread in England. I have grown it twice.
Foliar blight susceptibility 4, tuber blight 5. Dry matter 3 compared to 5 for Desiree. Yield 2½ - 3lb from 3 gallon pots; when we grew it we had a slug problem so they did better in pots than in the ground.
