Keith Goodall - Paradise and no Adam
BBC Radio 4: Saturday Night Theatre
Broadcast: Saturday 6th September 1986 @ 7:00 p.m.
The setting is present day in a 17th-century house that use to be a Spade Forge before it became a farmhouse. It is where 15-year-old
Jenny lives with her mum, Sarah, and her Gran. Though Jenny is rebellious with her mum, she is close to her Gran. Sarah feels her mother is
a bad influence on her daughter as Gran would feed Jenny's imagination with stories, especially the lurid account of a murder that happened
many years ago in the house where they live.
Gran claimed she found a diary in the barn that explained it all - how a young wife, Lucy, would occassionally be locked up in the barn by
her wicked husband, John, whenever he wanted to be with his mistress. But Lucy got the last laugh when she finally poisoned him and got
away with it. She had made sure that everyone knew how much she loved and respected her husband ...... before she killed him.
Meanwhile, Sarah is worried about how Jenny, who is resentful of her boyfriend David, will react when she tells her and Gran that David will be moving in with them. Will he be able to win them over?
