English Apples - Newton Wonder
| ||
|
Tends towards biennial bearing, but still popular. Blossom is late so usually avoids frosting.
Fruit medium to large. Red stripes on a yellow base when ripe. Dunmow's Seedling x Blenheim Orange.
Origin: Derby, 1870. Rather sharp, but OK as a dessert apple towards end of storage season; say after Xmas.
Very susceptible to silver leaf, so large branches should not be cut from this tree. Season: approx. Dec-Mar.
