Potatoes: Maris Piper
A large vigorous plant, haulm very thick and strong, attractive purple and yellow flowers similar to Golden Wonder; second early or early main crop potato. The potatoes are yellowish - white, white flesh, similar in character to Golden Wonder but not as dry. They are the chip shop favourite, and they are good sliced and fried, steamed or mashed.
This variety holds my personal record for best yield in a 2.5 gallon container; 6 lb 8oz and 5 lb 7 ozs in adjacent containers in 2008.
