Boutmy was organist at the Court Chapel,
Brussels. His harpsichord suites are very fine.
Alessandro Scarlatti was famous for his
operas and cantatas but these toccatas show
virtuosity, brilliance and melody. Anton van
Noordt was a Dutch organist and composer; he
lived and worked in Amsterdam. Gibbons was
a prolific keyboard composer until his early
death at 41; reputedly the best organist in England.
