THE MYSTERIOUS CASE OF ANNIE ELIZABETH
Readers may be interested in this episode of the Sunday night 'Illumination' series. Nigel (of 'suttonelms') and his wife Alison recently took part in the creation of a programme about the Annie Elizabeth apple. It's drama of a sort; a documentary about the tree, who raised it, why it was so-named, and the human story behind it - a story from 170 years ago; both a mystery and a tragedy. Lois Pryce is the writer and presenter, and the action takes place both in the present day and in the 1850s. It's 'Pick of the Week' in the radio section of the Radio Times this week (w.b. 17 Oct 26). Details: BBC Radio 4, Sunday 18 Oct 2026, 7.15pm. Here's the write-up from RT:
