It struck me that there are certain radio plays which I quite like where the title gives no clue as to what they are, so they remain frustratingly lost to me until I accidentally come across them when looking for something else. So I've started compiling a list, bit my bit as I listen to them in no particular order, so that I can find them when I want to hear them again.

AND THE BIRDS ARE STILL SINGING
A delightful play about an old house; it's been a treasured home for a lady for sixty years and now it's on the market. We hear the old lady's memories, the voice of the house, and the voices of the people who are about to buy it as they look around. By Nick Fisher, produced by Richard Wortley. 1998.

HANGED ON TUESDAY
A man has stopped speaking to his wife; she seeks therapy. He thinks she's a hypochondriac; she thinks he's unreasonable and remote and too wrapped up in his work. But not too long ago a family mamber was hanged. 1971.

SOUNDS IN THE SKY
Hot air balloons and a duel. 1971.

NIGHT DRIVE TO DOVER
A man driving to Dover; it's pouring with rain and a man standing in the middle of the road flags him down. But who is he? And who is the driver? 1963.

NOR ANY DROP TO DRINK
A man in prison, a likeable rogue, leads the governor a merry dance as he makes repeated complaints about mass medication and flouride in the prison water supply. A good-humoured comedy. 1967.

OUTRAGEOUS FORTUNE
A companion play to the previous one; the same likeable rogue received a huge unexpected legacy and the governor helps him deal with his new situation.1970.

PHOENIX IN FLAME
Aa ex-bomber pilot drives to his old wartime haunt in the middle of the night. He has a road traffic accident close to his destination. He limps his way to the pub to find he's not welcome but can't work out why. 1966.

THE FURNACE
Set just before WW2: A steel company is goiong through hard times, but a new product is discovered - titanium steel. Can it revive their fortunes? 1965.

THE CLAY PIGEON
A professional assassin is released from prison. He wants revenge on those who put him there. A 'clay pigeon' in this context means a person used as bait. 1976.

AGAINST ALL ODDS
A RAF pilot has to sacrifice his plane by ejecting when it malfunctions. His father bets on the horses. By a chain of coincidences, some of the names of the horses he backs are the same as the code words used by the Secret Services. The pilot's future is threatened. 1979.

THE BRINGER OF PEACE
A brief biographical drama about the composer Gustave Holst. The title refers to Venus, and is the subtitle of the second movement of Holst's Planets Suite. 2007.

THE PONTEFRACT INHERITANCE
A tale of a keyhole listener, deafness, and beeswax. And who will get the old man's estate? 1961.
