English Apples - Akane
Jonathan x Worcester; photographed at Church Stretton Apple Fair, by permission. Ripens in September; keeps until
late October; needs to be eaten within a month. Raised in Japan. Red all over; similar to Macintosh but fruit is
better. Crisp, juicy sweet; hint of strawberry flavour. Raised 1937, introduced 1970.
