Dear Nigel Deacon You will be surprised by this memoir which I boldly declare to have found a shape. I send it to you because your wide interest in radio drama intrigued me and I refer to you on page 16. I have made it more personal than I originally intended. I feel quite "Pontius Pilate" about 'the truth' but most of these 15,000 words are 'accurate' within the natural basis of interpretation. My covering note has been dictated down the phone to the admirable Jo Green as I really am as 'low-tech' as I describe and might just as well be the venerable Bede with a swan's feather quill. It is a further reflection that the names Judi Dench and Miriam Margolyes seem to appear several times where many other favourite artists of mine are not mentioned at all. This is the accident of a free-range memory: another day it could have been quite a different list. All best wishes. Richard Wortley Dec 2004
