English Apples - Wyken Pippin
| |||
Seedling raised at Wyken, near Coventry, Warks, in the 1700s. It is the parent of Laxton's
Superb, one of our best apples. The fruits don't look impressive; they are small to medium-sized, flat, and yellow when fully ripe, but the flavour is rich and the texture is firm. This is a late midseason apple which stores quite well. The growth habit is rather upright so it has to be pruned with care or the fruit may be out of reach.
