NOTES
RESERVED COMPARTMENT....1966
An intriguing mystery which starts with an argument about whether
a titled landowner should have the right to get off the train on
his own land...
THE COMMUTER'S TALES ....1971
Update on the Canterbury Tales idea, set on a train.
THE HEX....1981
Classic suspense with a frightening tale based on M.R.James' "Casting the
Runes".
THE GREAT TIMES CROSSWORD CONSPIRACY ....1982
Cast: Tony Robinson, Meg Johnson, Bob Grant, Bonnie Hurran, Peter Wheeler, Stephen Granville. Directed by Alfred Bradley.
LOVE ME TENDER....1982
13 Oct 82. A comedy about model railway fanatics. 45m. By Simon Moss. With Dinsdale Landen, Anna Cropper, Simon Hewitt.
Recording sent by Alan Stokes - many thanks.
INTERCITY CONTRACT....1985
Agatha Christie - style mystery set on a train.
MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS....1992
Too well-known to say much - David Suchet is immaculate as
Poirot, and this story occupies several (I think 6) half-hour
episodes.
STRANGERS ON A TRAIN....1995
Dramatised by Craig Warner. R4, 25 Jan 96. 55m. Two
men meet on a train journey. There's nothing they fear to
say. They'll never see each other again. A tale of
suspense and murder.
..........two excellent plays by Alan Plater: Only a matter
of time (R4 1 Nov 00 1415) and Time added on for injuries
(R4 2 Nov 00 1415), where James Bolam and Alan David fence
verbally in two settings a century apart in rural Wales; Bolam is
the industrialist who wants to rip up the countryside and build
railways, and David is the Welshman who objects. Did you know that
many villages had their own local time before the coming of the
railways?
CONVERSATIONS ON THE LONDON TRAIN....2002
A light-hearted romance from a master of the art of the radio play -
Don Haworth.
Radio Times: "An ordinary train journey offers a
life-changing and heart-warming opportunity to two ordinary
people who share their hopes and fears in this gentle story". (more
about this play on Don Haworth's page)
EVERY BIT OF IT .... 2006
Two Bessie Smith fans meet on a train. R3.
