English Apples - Sunset
Very popular apple of the Cox type. It's slightly earlier, hardier, resistant
to scab, crisp and richly flavoured. Scotts of Merriott say that it's one of their most popular apples.
Deacon's Nursery gives similar comments: Much hardier than Cox;
disease free. fruit is juicy and of rich flavour. Now a very popular variety
and widely planted; it succeeds where Cox is disappointing; must be no. 1
in the popularity charts. Prolific fruiting on spurs; frost resistant.
