NOTES

NORTH EAST OF EDEN....1997
Paradise is a small Scottish island, and Marcia has inherited her father's medical practice. She's left London, her boyfriend, and her previous life. Now her social life consists of the local pub and some dubious-looking fishermen. Stars Joan Sims, Rebecca Front and James Garbutt. Directed by Kathy Smith.

WORMHOLES....1997
Broadcast of children's radio 4 ...a science fiction drama. Spin's Dad disappeared seven years ago. Everyone thought he was a mad scientist, and his odd behaviour made Spin the school bully's favourite target. But Spin is determined to find out what his father was really working on...with Ben Stapleton, David Derbyshire; directed by Martin Jameson. Do not be put off by the label "children's radio" - this production is excellent entertainment for all.

INTO THE DARK....1997
Another series from children's radio 4 ...the episodes are entitled 1)Malham Cottage, 2)Roly, 3)The Seagull. Matt encounters a strange reaction from a woman he meets on holiday. The holiday doesn't seem very enjoyable, either, until he meets Roly. With Alex Carter, Jamie Lee and Sue Johnston. Directed by Chris Wallis.

POLLYANNA....1998
Missed this one... comments will appear if I get a recording.

DON CAMILLO....2001
Dramatisation of Giovanni Guareschi's wonderful short stories about a village in the Po valley, where the Good Lord keeps the peace (most of the time) between the village priest, Don Camillo and the Communist mayor, Peppone. I think there have been three series; the latest is going out now (Apr 03). For series 1 the cast was Alun Armstrong, Joss Ackland, John Moffatt and Sean Prendergast. A superb production.

...........excerpt from VRPCC newsletter.......The Little World of Don Camillo, by Giovanni Guareschi, dramatised by Peter Kerry (R4, 1830, beginning 10 Jun 02) returned for its second series. These tales of the feud between the communist mayor and the Catholic priest are ideal for half-hour dramatisations, rather like the Jeeves short stories. Joss Ackland plays God, Ian Hogg plays Don Camillo, and Shaun Prendergast is Peppone. As Radio Times says, " a delight".

DON CAMILLO....2005
More superb dramatisations of these short stories; Joss Ackland as God, Ian Hogg as Don Camillo, Shaun Prendergast as Peppone... titles:
