NOTES
THE WINTER JOURNEY....1999
The story of Scott's Antarctic
Expedition of 1911. Part dramatisation.
With Penelope Wilton, Kenneth Cranham &
David Rintoul.
IN THE TREACLE WELL....2000
A housewife finds her husband having an
affair - she gets some guidance from
Celia Johnson and Bette Davis.
THE POLAR WIFE....2001
A rather odd comedy starring Lady Franklin,
John Franklin, Charles Wood, Florence
Nightingale and others...it's about the
lost navigators and the North-West Passage.
THE NATURAL SELECTIION OF MARGRET....2001
A tale based on the true story of a
group of settlers on the Galapagos island
of Floreana 70 years ago.
GERTRUDE STEIN AND THE LIBERATION FRUITCAKE....2003
A noisy American woman pontificating about lots of
things without needing to draw breath...
GREENMANTLE....2005
R4, 3 Jul 05. Classic Serial, 2 x 55m. GREENMANTLE, a lesser-known story by John Buchan, was due to go out as the Classic Serial, beginning R4, 1430, 9 Jul 05, dramatised by Pat Hannah. The plot involved Muslims, so the second episode was pulled, after the London bombings. It still hasn't been broadcast; disappointing for the producer, Bruce Young. I hope we'll hear it soon.
(ND, VRPCC radio review, Sep 05)... Update ....yes, it was broadcast about a year later.
