Paul Seifert Keyboard Music

Paul Seifert (1586-1666), North German organ composer. He was a contemporary of Scheidt, Scheidemann, Pratorius. Siefert was organist at Warsaw and Gdansk (Danzig) and was a pupil of Sweelinck.

His known pieces for organ:

Paduana (Pavane)
Eight variations: Puer natus in Bethlehem
12 Fantasias

I have played the fantasias; they are a bit dry. They are in three parts and seem to be written to a formula. Restful and acceptable on the organ; too dull for the piano. Apel says that the other pieces are better. I have not yet tried them.
