English Apples - Howgate Wonder
| |||
Apple raised by G. Wratten, Howgate Lane, Bembridge, Isle of Wight, 1915. Large red striped fruit when fully ripe;
some apples stay yellow. Eye very deep. Crops well and has neat compact growth. Fruit keeps its shape better than Bramley
when cooked because of its lower acidity. Good pollinator for Bramley. Hold world record for largest apple - a little under
4lbs.
