English Apples - Hambledon Deux Ans
| |||
Origin Hambledon, Hants, no later than 1750. Dual purpose apple; silvery green turning golden yellow. Pick late
Sept; keeps until April. Rather tough apple, cream-coloured dryish flesh. Mainly a cooker, when it keeps its shape.
"Two year apple" is really a misnomer. Very long lived tree. Very common in 1800s in Hampshire.
