In the "Who Sings the Hero?" series. A Parisian infant teacher comfronted by an armed gunman in her classroom; based on actual events. With John Rowe, Adjoa Andoh, Tom Mannon, Sarah Rice; dir. Claire Grove.

VELMA & THERESE....1998

Exploring a Tudor shipwreck off Porthant Bay. Dir. Janet Whitaker

THE SMELL OF HIM....1998
A comedy thriller, set in Victorian England: with Haydn Gwynne, Nicholas Farrell, Andrew Harrison, Mary McCusker; dir. Claire Grove. This play reminded me a little of Perry Pontac's work.

WOMAN OF ICE....1999
An archaeologist discovers a frozen princess in the Altai Mountains. With Suzanna Hamilton and Matilda Ziegler; dir. Janet Whitaker.

LADY AUDLEY'S SECRET....1999
A convulted love story involving the upper classes...with Francesca Annis, Leonis Mellinger, Terrence Hardiman; dir. Annie Castledine. Broadcast as Classic Serial.

A HIGH WIND IN JAMAICA....2000
The Bas Thornton children live in Jamaica. But a hurricane hits the island, and they are sent home to England, which is supposedly safer. On the way their ship is taken over by pirates. With Robert Glemister, Hatty Jones, Kiera Knightley; dir. Catherine Bailey. Broadcast as Classic Serial.

BEHIND THE SCENES AT THE MUSEUM....2000
Dramatisation of Kate Atkinson's novel from 1995. Ruby is the unloved child of the Lennox family in York. She investigates her past and discovers what has blighted her childhood. With Katherine Dow Blyton, Janice McKenzie and Malcolm Scates; dir. Polly Thomas.

ANGELA CARTER DRAMATISATIONS....2001
These have the collective title "Wise Children". Dora and Nora are the illegitimate twin daughters of the Shakespearean actor Sir Melchior Hazard. Starring Marcia Warren and Elizabeth Bell; dir. Claire Grove.

THE OPERA COMPANION....2004
A lovely piece of comic radio writing. Two shy opera lovers have seats next to each other, but never speak until it's too late. With Derek Jacobi, Nicola McAuliffe, Alice Hart and Philip Fox. Director Janet Whitaker.

LAYING GHOSTS....date nk
Unusual love story involving a spiritualist and a long-dead ghost. With Jane Whittenshaw, Joan Sims, Neil Roberts, Peter Penry Jones, Gudrun Ewer. Producer Claire Grove. This play was repeated by ABC National (Australia) in about 1998.
